Arya (Maisie Williams) and The Hound (Rory McCann) have spent all of Game of Thrones Season 4 wandering the countryside together without getting a whole lot accomplished, so we feel like something big has to happen to them in the Season 4 finale. Thanks to A Song of Ice and Fire, we have a pretty good idea of what that is, so read on to discover Arya’s possible fate!

For book readers, this is where things get tricky. We know from the trailers that someone we're pretty sure is Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) comes across the Hound and Arya, which is an event that does not happen in the books.
While this meeting could have huge implications on Arya's story, we don’t think it will. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have made changes to the story before that end up adding drama without changing the overall arcs of the characters. A good example of this was the whole Locke in the Night’s Watch/Jon Snow going to Craster’s Keep/Bran being captured by the Mutineers plot. None of this occurred in the books, and some book readers worried that Jon Snow and Bran would meet up. However, they didn’t, and everyone is right back where they’re supposed to be. We think it will be the same with Arya.
In the books, The Hound succumbs to his festering wound and wants Arya to put him out of his misery. He reminds her of all the terrible things he’s done, but this has the opposite effect on her to what he intends, and she leaves him to die. Then she boards a ship bound for Braavos which is where she should be in Season 5 if the show keeps following the books.
In the show, we’re guessing Brienne and Pod encounter the two and Brienne fights and defeats a weakened Hound. We don’t think Brienne will outright kill the Hound, since we see him rolling down a hill in the finale trailer. Arya, recognizing Pod’s Lannister colors, will run away from Brienne, eventually coming back for the Hound. This is where we’ll get the previously mentioned scene, and Arya will still leave the Hound for dead and board a ship to Braavos. No harm done.
That's just our guess, though. Whatever the case, we'll be shocked of Arya doesn't end up headed towards Braavos, alone, either at the end of this season or the beginning of next season.
