The latest episode of The Vampire Diaries gave us a glimpse into the lives of witch twins Luke (Chris Brochu) and Liv (Penelope Mitchell), but we still have many unanswered questions about this duo who seem to know way more about the Travelers than we do. What are Luke and Liv planning?
Chris spoke to Hollywood Life about his TVD character and what his storyline will look like moving forward, revealing: “You know, he will always be there for his sister, because his sister has always been there for him. So they very much have that kind of balancing dynamic. Liv is very a go getter and Luke — he follows the rules but he also follows his heart in situations, so I think that kind of balance is what’s going to be interesting to the viewers and as well the storyline coming up, leading up to the finale.”
Hmm...It sounds like Luke might be getting emotionally involved in something that may endanger their mission? But what is the mission of Liv and Luke? We know that they want to stop the Travelers from completing their plan, which seems to be bringing their leader Markos back from the Other Side (check!), and then either destroying or not destroying the supernatural purgatory. Yeah, we’re a little fuzzy on this, but we’re pretty sure whatever’s going on involves the Other Side. And doppelgangers. And chanting. And we know that, whatever the Travelers are trying to do, the witches are intent on stopping them. These two magical factions hate one another, as Liv explained to Jeremy in the last episode. So much so that the witches curse the ground to turn against the Travelers so that they could no longer draw power from it. That’s why they always be chanting. They need to get their power in other ways. It’s probably why they love doppelganger blood so much, too.
Julie Plec teased that the Other Side is disintegrating. What if the witches decide to destroy the supernatural purgatory altogether to prevent the Travelers from doing whatever it is they plan on doing? (Ex: bringing a Traveler army back from the dead.) Catch: if Liv dies pre-Season 5 finale, then Luke will be torn between fulfilling his duty as part of the witch community and saving his sister. Dilemma! And we think we know which one he would pick...
“If Luke connects with anyone, he’s going to be there for them,” Chris elaborated in Hollywood Life. “Doesn’t matter the situation, doesn’t matter the circumstance, he’ll be there in the end for you. It’s all about the perspective and the bigger person and why exactly they’re doing what they’re doing.” Sounds tragically suspicious, right?
What do you think Liv and Luke are planning to do? How do you think their plan will go horribly wrong, as plans often do on TVD? Sound off in the comments below!
