The Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Will Caroline Ever Turn Her Humanity Off?

Over the past five seasons of The Vampire Diaries we’ve seen three characters turn off their humanity — Damon, Stefan, and Elena — and every time, it’s the same ole’ thing. Vampire turns off his/her humanity and then goes on murderous rampage because he/she just doesn’t care anymore. So will the ever-chipper Caroline Forbes suffer the same fate in Season 6?

Vampire Diaries star Candice Accola recently told Collider, “Before, I used to say that it would be fun to see Caroline on the dark side of things, but we’ve already seen that with a lot of the other characters shutting their own humanity off. So, I don’t feel like it would be that different to see her shutting her humanity off.”

We have to agree with Candice. The one thing we love about Caroline is that she always stays true to her character. Sure, she’s killed before to save her friends, but she’s not the Ripper-type. Just look what happened when she tried to kill Stefan’s doppelganger Tom. Even Stefan knew she wouldn’t do it. It made sense for Elena to turn off her humanity once Jeremy had died and she just wanted the pain to go away. We think the only thing that would make Caroline flip her switch would be the death of her mother — and we have a hard time believing The Powers That Be would kill off Sheriff Forbes. After all, how many parents can they kill?

So if turning off her humanity is out of the card for Caroline, then what’s next? “I have no idea what the writers have in store for next season, but I’m really excited to leave it up to them to decide what happens to Caroline,” she said. “Everything that she’s been through already has been fun and educating and a joy to be a part of.”

What do you think, TVD fans: would you like to see Caroline turn off her humanity? Sound off in the comments!
