Game of Thrones Spoilers: Will Jaime Fight for Tyrion?
In Game of ThronesSeason 4, Episode 4, we witnessed some possible foreshadowing. During their training session, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Bronn (Jerome Flynn) began talking about Tyrion (Peter Dinklage). Bronn mentioned how he and Jaime's little bro first met during Tyrion’s trial by combat at the Eyrie, and that Jaime was Tyrion’s first choice to be his champion. Bronn said Tyrion named Jaime first because he knew he would fight for him, and Bronn asked if he will fight for him now.
So if Tyrion’s upcoming trial ends up being a trial by combat, will Jaime fight for Tyrion? Read on to find out!

At the end of Tyrion’s trial, things are not going to look good for our favorite Lannister, and a trial by combat is going to be his only chance at survival. Tyrion’s opponent is going to be the Hound’s brother, the Mountain, making whomever fights for Tyrion’s odds very slim. However, Tyrion finds a willing champion in Oberyn, who is still looking for any chance to take down The Mountain.
Could the show change this, and have Jaime step up for his little bro instead? Not a chance. He's improving when it comes to fighting with his left hand, but he would still get killed by the Mountain, and Tyrion wouldn’t let sympathy get in the way of making a smart decision on his own life. Plus, we've plainly seen Oberyn fighting The Mountain in the Season 4 trailers; it's an incredibly memorable scene that the show would not leave out.
That said, Jaime will fight for Tyrion in another way. After Oberyn loses and Tyrion is awaiting his sentence, it’s Jaime who frees him. So he does step in to save his brother after all.
