Star-Crossed: Where Does It Take Place, and Where Is it Filmed?

We're obviously in love with Star-Crossed — and with the season finale fast approaching, we're wondering what we're going to do without it. A huge fixture in the series that we're hoping to see more of in Season 2, if there is one, is the Louisiana setting! For example, we've only gotten a tiny peek at the legendary secret settlement of Eljida before — hidden away in miles of swampland.

Because of that, plus plot-driving details like the hurricane in "What Storm Is This That Blows So," the location plays heavily not just into our understanding of the show, but our theories about what happens next! So where in the state is the show's setting, the fictional town of Edendale?

Edendale is supposed to be just outside Baton Rouge — we're guessing southeast, for proximity to both the Maurepas Swamp Wildlife Management Area (for Eljida) and New Orleans, where much of the filming and costume design takes place. Of course, we have no idea how much the Louisiana landscape has changed in 2024, but let's just roll with what we know.

While Marshall High School is a fictional school in a fictional town, in real life it's Chalmette High School, just southeast of New Orleans in St Bernard Parish. Many other scenes are shot at the University of New Orleans' Nims Center Studios, just north of the city in Harahan. The cast lives in New Orleans while filming, which we're sure they have no objections to!

Star-Crossed airs Monday nights at 8 p.m./7 p.m. Central on the CW.
