Glee Star Opens Up About Failed Engagement

Out of every actor in the core Glee cast, only one of them is married Jane Lynch (Sue) married wife Lara Embry in 2010. But now, one of Jane’s Glee costars is opening up about part of his romantic past: an engagement to a fellow actress that didn’t end up working out.

Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schue) tells Cosmopolitan UK, that he proposed to soap star Chrishell Stause back in 2007, and regretted the decision just as soon as the words left his mouth.

“I immediately felt in my heart it wasn't right. My instant thought was 'What did you just do?'" he says.

At the time, Matthew and Chrishell had been dating for about a year. He was 27, and the pressure to get married and have kids was creeping up on him. Still, the actor quickly realized hadn’t gotten engaged “for the right reason,” and he ended up breaking it off.

He calls it “one of the biggest growing experiences I’ve had as a man,” but freely admits that he came out of the situation seeming like a total jerk. “I'd made this massive decision; I'd promised this girl a life together and I couldn't follow through. It was awful. All I could do was hold up my hands and be like, 'I'm the a**hole'."

Well, if you ask us, it’s much better to be “the a**hole” a couple months into an engagement than a couple years into marriage. It might have been painful at the time, but it saved both of them a whole lot more heartbreak in the end.
