“I know some of the fans don’t love my character,” Ryan told NBC Latino. “But I think I’ve persuaded a few to join Team Jake. There’s a budding interest there, but I’ll leave it for fans to speculate whether it’s going to grow or fade.”
Whether or not you like the character, Jake’s continuing arc on PLL Season 4 is good news for Ryan and Lucy. The two get along swimmingly in real life. “We have a really great relationship,” Guzman said. “We joke a lot, send lots of funny tweets back and forth. Filming with her has been a blast.”
As much as Ryan is enjoying himself, it doesn’t sound like he will be around PLL forever (good news, Ezra!). The actor has a “laundry list” of other projects on his mind, he told NBC Latino. First on the list: the follow-up to Step Up Revolution. The dancing movie was his big break in Hollywood, and he’s excited to take on the fifth film in the Step Up film franchise.
Ryan recounted to AXS Live his reaction to being asked to do another Step Up: “When they asked me, I was really shocked, but I said, ‘Of course. You’re family.’”
Ryan told AXS Live that he had only had an agent for two months when he booked the part in Step Up Revolution. The Texas native had originally moved to L.A. to continue his Mixed Martial Arts training and fighting, but was quickly lured into the world of acting. His martial arts experience has obviously come in handy, though. After all, Jake is a martial arts instructor!
“Never did I think when I was fighting that I was going to be an actor and actually making it and being successful at it, so I just feel privileged,” Ryan told AXS Live. Humble and determined. We knew we liked him!
