ATTENTION: Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes Contain No Actual Pumpkin!
We hate to break it to you, ladies, but those delectable pumpkin spice lattes you’ll be sucking down all season are actually lacking a certain something, and that something would be actual pumpkin.
Huffington Post reports that while these delicious beverages have plenty of pumpkin “flavoring” (read: chemicals that mock pumpkin flavor), there’s no actual Cucurbita maxima involved in your 8, 16, or (whoa, there, girlfriend!) 24 ounce cup.
While Starbucks does admit to the mouth-watering combination of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg, it’s actually pumpkin pie spice that flavors the drink. Which is kind of sad, really. The great gourd of fall contains tons of Vitamin A, fiber, and minerals that are actually very good for you. In fact, it has properties that can help boost the immune system, ward off cancer, and help you lose weight.
You know, even though we now know the truth behind our favorite tall fall sip, we’re still going straight to the ‘bucks for our daily fix. Because the fact remains that while real pumpkin would be great, as long as we’re fooled, we’re fine.
