Stars Leaving Their TV Shows: Whose Exit Is the Most Shocking?

It’s been a rough few months in TV land, with a handful of stars exiting their shows. Today, the news came that Laura Prepon is not returning as a series regular on Netflix’s wildly popular Orange Is the New Black. While the former That ‘70s Show actress isn’t off the show completely (she’ll return to wrap up her storyline), cast members of other shows are leaving more abruptly. Take a look at some of the surprising departures and tell us which is the most shocking.

Grey’s Anatomy will lose yet another of its ranks when Sandra Oh (Cristina) leaves after the upcoming Season 10. "Creatively, I really feel like I gave it my all, and I feel ready to let her go," she explained of her character.

Another actor opting to leave his show is Community’s Donald Glover. Fans will say goodbye to Troy Barnes after five episodes so Glover can focus on his music career.

Like Donald Glover, Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones will only be sticking around for part of the season on their show, Parks and Recreation. “We’ve been working on their storyline (on and off) for four seasons now, and heading into this year, with the two of them contemplating parenthood, it felt like a natural time to move them into the next phase,” executive producer Michael Schur said.

NCIS fans will be happy to know there’ll also be closure when Cote de Pablo (Ziva David) ends her run after "8 great years" with the show. Cote said she has "huge respect and affection" for her castmates and CBS and looks “forward to finishing Ziva's story."

Things ended slightly more tumultuously for GirlsChristopher Abbott, who played Marnie’s on-again, off-again boyfriend Charlie. Rumors of creative differences between the actor and showrunner Lena Dunham were cited as the reason for his departure. A source claims, “Chris was reluctant to do the show from the get go... But he's at a point now where he has too many great film parts being offered to him to turn them down for something he's not 100 percent satisfied with.”

Someone who doesn’t think his exit is shocking? Fred Armisen, who’s leaving Saturday Night Live. "I think it's clear. I didn't do any kind of official announcement, but I really felt like it was obvious," he said back in July. Bill Hader and Seth Meyers also left SNL after last season.

There you have it. So many tearful goodbyes coming. Which stunned you the most?

None were shocking.

All were shocking!
