Jennifer Lopez Sued For Being Involved in a Catfish Scandal — But Why?
Nev and Max, we hope you’re ready for this: Jennifer Lopez is in the middle of her very own Catfish scandal. But she’s not the one being Catfished — her image is being used to Catfish someone else.
According to TMZ, Rodrigo Ruiz is suing Jennifer for $10,000 (and charging her with sexual harassment) for letters she sent him in 2008… when she demanded naked photos and his demi CDs. Yikes!
Except Jennifer didn’t write those letters — someone else did. Possibly the 53-year-old woman who owned the P.O. Box the sender of the letters belonged to?
Rodrigo says the letters “Jennifer” sent him promised him things like a record deal and a relationship — especially after Jennifer assured him she’d be leaving her husband for him. He claims that his correspondence with Jennifer (and the fact that she never followed through on her promises) is what led him to seek professional help for his depression.
So what do Jen’s people have to say about it? “This is a small claims matter that appears to be a desperate attempt for notoriety,” her rep said. “Ms. Lopez has never seen or met the plaintiff, nor has she ever communicated with him. We believe this matter should be summarily dismissed.”
