Nicki Minaj Sued by NBA Promoters For Not Partying Long Enough
Celebrities arriving late isn’t exactly breaking news — unless you’re Nicki Minaj. NBA All-Star party promoters have filed a suit against the “Anaconda” singer; they claim she arrived late and left early for what was supposed to be a one-hour appearance back in 2011. The bank she made for the gig? Hope you’re sitting down: It was a cool $50,000. For an hour, people!
Court documents obtained by TMZ say Nicki was scheduled to appear at Siren Studios in Hollywood during the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend. Also on deck to be there: Drake, Lil Wayne, and Trey Songz. Nicki was set to grace the people with her presence from midnight to 1 a.m. She wasn’t performing, just adding a little extra star power to the megawatt event.
The promoters, however, claim Ms. Minaj didn’t arrive until 1:30 a.m. and left before 2 a.m. Since she violated the specified terms and didn’t stick around for her agreed upon 60 minutes, they want their money back plus a little extra to cover her hotel stay and other lost revenue.
The ball’s in her court now.
