Robert Pattinson Suffers “Body Dysmorphia” on the Red Carpet?

Robert Pattinson is one of the most popular and in demand actors in the world right now, as any fan worth her skin sparkles can attest. And with a ton of projects in the works, it’s fair to say that Rob will be walking plenty of red carpets in the near future — which is, surprisingly, the worst thing he can imagine.

“I get a ton of anxiety,” RPatz tells Australia’s Sunday Style (via GossipCop) about appearances at big events. But it doesn’t last the whole night — only “right up until the second I get out of the car to the event, when suddenly it completely dissipates. But up until that moment I’m a nut case.”

Phew! We’d hate to imagine that the Twilight star hates posing for pictures, glad-handing other celebs, and walking on our favorite colored flooring. Especially since it sounds like the depth of his panic is far beyond what we ever would’ve imagined.

Rob describes his symptoms, including “body dysmorphia, overall tremendous anxiety.” Ever the optimist, the actor jokes that it’s because of his stressful anticipation of the spotlight, he’s remained humble. “I suppose it’s because of these tremendous insecurities that I never found a way to become egotistical.”

And then, just because we can’t imagine loving him any more than we already do, he adds “I don’t have a sixpack and I hate going to the gym. I’ve been like that my whole life. I never want to take my shirt off. I’d prefer to get drunk.”

Amen to that, brother-friend.
