Miley Cyrus Covers “Summertime Sadness,” Reminds People She Can Sing
What with the twerking, the tongue-wagging, and the potentially illegal smoking, it’s easy to forget that Miley Cyrus sings. Like, she can really sing, you guys.
Girlfriend reminded the world what she’s got to work with during a recent Live Lounge performance for BBC Radio 1.
For her acoustic set, Miley opted to cover Lana Del Rey’s ballad, “Summertime Sadness.” With little but a guitar, keyboard, and a couple backup singers, Miley checked her antics at the door and let her pipes play lead.
The performance was the quality of “Wrecking Ball,” minus the distracting naked construction bit played up in the accompanying music video. In fact, the oft-naked Miley wore a black turtleneck for her tour of BBC 1 — more clothes than what BBC radio host Greg James, who famously spoofed Miley’s “Wrecking Ball” video, had on when later meeting her.
