Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has had a heck of a year, which culminates in him joining his team in the 2014 Super Bowl in NYC. But what is his ethnicity?

This is 25-year-old Russell's second season in the NFL. He was picked in the third round of the NFL draft by Seattle in 2012 out of the University of Wisconsin.

As for his ethnicity, Russell is multi-racial. He is mostly of African-American heritage, but he is also of Native American ancestry as well.

Russell's great-great-grandfather was a slave to a Confederate colonel and was freed following the Civil War. Russell's grandfather played football and basketball in college and is a former president at Norfolk State University.

Russell has led the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl appearance since 2005, when the team was led by starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. Matt is the brother-in-law of talk show host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Russell married longtime girlfriend Ashton Meem in 2012, and the couple has three dogs. Russell is also a devout Christian.
