OK, so Shay’s not just there to hang with Jacob (although they are totally besties who have dance parties together). She’s also there for the country’s inaugural We Day, a youth empowerment event that gives young people a chance to learn about global issues and celebrate their own contributions to improve the world. Tickets to the event can’t be bought; they can only be earned by making a commitment to at least one local and one global charitable act as part of the year-long We Act program.
The event is organized by Free the Children, and will be a who’s who of celebrity, political, and change-making cultures. Other speakers and performers besides Shay and Jacob scheduled include: Prince Harry, Ellie Goulding, Malala Yousafzai, Al Gore, Clive Owen, Birdy, and more! Pretty cool that Shay is going to be a part of this — though, we’re not surprised. Shay is totally devoted to giving back and encouraging others to do that same. Over the PLL filming hiatus, Shay went to Kenyaas part of the “Me to We” program, “an innovative social enterprise that offers socially conscious and environmentally friendly products and life-changing experiences.” It gives half of all profits to Free the Children.
