Survivor: Blood vs. Water’s Caleb Bankston Dies in Train Derailment
The reality TV universe is a little smaller today — People confirms Caleb Bankston, who competed on the Blood vs. Water season of Survivor in 2013, died in a railway accident in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 24.
Caleb worked as a locomotive engineer at Alabama Warrior Railway and died when a train he was on derailed. No more information about the accident has been revealed.
He was 26.
Caleb and his fiancé, Colton Combie, both competed in the Philippines-set season of the show — Colton having competed three seasons earlier, in the round dubbed One World.
During Blood vs. Water, Colton was voted out on Day 7 and Caleb was ousted on Day 30.
They were set to marry in October, reports Daily Mail.
Survivor alum Sabrina Thompson, who competed on One World, tells People she met Caleb at the finale of her season with Colton. "You were instantly drawn to his big smile, warm spirit, and Southern charm," she says.
Adds Caleb's Survivor teammate Aras Baskauskas, "Caleb was an amazing man and friend. "One of the sweetest and most sincere humans I've ever come across. I am gutted by his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with his family."
