One of Survivor’s most notorious contestants, the nudist known as Richard Hatch, has made headlines again — this time with a revelation that there may be hundreds of little Richards hatched all over the east coast (see what we did there?). This is due to the inaugural Survivor winner’s admission that he donated his sperm hundreds of times at the Cryobank in Fairfax, Virginia, in order to make money while attending nearby George Mason University.
"I did it for two years, about two or three times a week," the former Survivor contestant, who became known for his scheming ways and propensity towards nudity on the hit CBS reality show, told Inside Edition. He was reportedly paid $30 per donation.
This isn’t the weirdest part of the story, either. Apparently, some of the hatchlings have reached out to Richard. In fact, he recently met two of the children he fathered. Emily Kidd and Devin O'Neill, both 24, tracked Richard down on a website called the Donor Sibling Registry using information their mothers shared with them. Devin reached out to him in a rather nonchalant way, sending an email that read, "This may be weird, but you might be my biological donor. Hi!" In an uber creepy recollection, Emily recalls having watched the oft-naked Richard on his season of Survivor when she was 11 years old, although she didn’t know he was her father at the time.
Richard hasn’t gone ducked back quietly into the good night since his time on the show. In fact, not only was he sentenced to three years in prison for failing to pay taxes on his winnings from Survivor, but he also served an additional nine months because he violated a gag order that was part of his conditions for his release from jail.
Richard, who lives with his husband Emiliano in Newport, Rhode Island, definitely seems to be in a happier phase in his life. "It's an exciting time. It's a great time,” he said.
