Syleena Johnson Reacts to Not Being a Grammy-Nominated Diva (VIDEO)
Tonight marks an all-new episode of TV One’s hit reality show, R&B Divas AtlantaSeason 3, and all the ladies are excited to learn that they are Grammy-nominated singers… sort of.
As you may already know, the divas — Syleena Johnson, Monifah, Faith Evans, Nicci Gilbert, and KeKe Wyatt — all worked on a charity compilation album during Season 1 of the show to benefit the Whitney E. Houston Academy. The Album, R&B Divas, was nominated for a Grammy in 2014, but it appears that Faith was the only diva who would receive an award for it.
In this sneak peek of tonight’s episode, Syleena and Monifah meet with KeKe to bask in the news of the album’s nomination, but quickly learn that only one diva will receive all the praise… and it’s not cute.
As the ladies revel in their glory, KeKe reiterates her conversation with Faith saying, “I talked to her and I said ‘Are we nominated or are you?’ and she said ‘Well I am’.” And it gets worse.
KeKe goes on to relay that only Faith’s invited to award show and the rest of the ladies could buy tickets if they wanted to attend. Ouch!
Monifah suggests that they all do a bit of research to get down to the truth of the matter, but Syleena — having been nominated before as a featured artist on Kanye West’s song, “All Falls Down” — assures the ladies that they are Grammy-nominated singers.
The ladies seem happy to finally have their talents recognized by the academy, but are they nominated or not? Looks like we’ll have to tune in tonight to see them get to truth of the matter.
