Game of Thrones Synopsis for Season 4, Episode 8: “The Mountain and the Viper”

HBO has released the plot synopsis for Game of Thrones, Season 4, Episode 8, “The Mountain and the Viper,” and it sounds like it’s going to be a good one!

The official synopsis is: “Unexpected visitors arrive in Mole’s Town; Littlefinger’s motives are questioned; Ramsay tries to prove himself to his father; Tyrion’s fate is decided.” So, what does all this mean?

Mole’s Town visitors. The unexpected visitors in Mole’s Town are almost certainly Ygritte, Tormund, Styr, and the other Wildlings who are wreaking havoc south of the Wall. They have been making their way towards Castle Black for some time now, and Mole’s Town is the last stop before the castle. Smooth move leaving Gilly there, Sam.

Littlefinger’s motives. No one really knows Littlefinger’s motives, and that may even include Littlefinger. The specific actions that are having their motives questioned could be any number of things: Littlefinger’s murder of Joffrey, his murder of Jon Arryn, his marriage to Lysa, and his bringing Sansa to the Eyrie all have unclear motives, but the big question is, who’s questioning him?

Ramsay proving himself. Roose Bolton has been less than impressed with his bastard Ramsay’s actions, so expect Ramsay to do something big to curry favor with his father. We already know that Roose wants the Ironborn out of Moat Cailin, and with Ramsay cleaning up Reek so he can play the part of Theon, we can’t help but think these two things are related. Maybe Ramsay actually uses his brain rather than his brutality?

Tyrion’s fate is decided. We already saw Tyrion’s trial, which concluded with his demand for a trial by combat. If it’s his fate being decided in this episode, we can only assume this is where the battle takes place. Get pumped.
