Miley Cyrus Pulled from Vogue’s Cover? Her Surprising Answer

Remember back when Miley Cyrus first took to twerking? The former Disney star’s sexy performance with Robin Thicke set all kinds of tongues a-waggin' (including Miley’s own). But more than that, it reportedly kicked Miley out of the running for certain high profile opportunities. One such notable gig: landing the cover of Vogue magazine.

At the time of Miley’s now infamous MTV Video Music Awards performance, girlfriend was said to be the next cover girl for editor Anna Wintour’s highly acclaimed publication. But once Ms. Wintour saw Miley questionable taste in, well, lots of things, she supposedly went all Devil Wears Prada on the then 20-year-old and revoked the invitation to grace the cover (and potentially passing it on to fellow pop diva Selena Gomez)

Miley didn’t have much to say about the supposed switcheroo until she recently sat down with The New York Times to talk about the year she’s had.

“Was it true that you had a Vogue cover pulled because of the VMAs?” asks the NYT reporter.

“I can’t say too much. But it was where I was kind of going to have to do this trade-off, and I wasn’t willing to,” Miley says. “Right now, me doing any kind of cover for anything that’s like a Seventeen or Teen Vogue or whatever, the way that I talk isn’t the way that people that are 17 really understand.”

Although Miley doesn’t directly talk about Vogue her meaning seems clear enough: Miley’s going to keep being Miley, and some magazines just can’t handle that. Perhaps Selena Gomez is more their speed.
