Tamra Barney’s Son, Ryan, Diagnosed With Hemochromatosis — What Is That?
It's been great getting to see Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Barney's son Ryan Vieth mature over the years. And now, we're wishing him the best as he deals with a recent medical diagnosis.
Ryan has been diagnosed with a blood disease called hemochromatosis, which causes your body to absorb too much iron into the blood. The genes that cause the disease are typically inherited, and serious problems from the ailment are uncommon, provided that the patient gets frequent blood donations.
"Officially diagnosed with Hemochromatosis. Real life IRONMAN. =)" Ryan writes on February 25.
And Tamra admires that Ryan is staying strong in light of the diagnosis. "Only my son @fit_lion could make a joke out of a getting diagnosed with a blood disorder. #ironman #worriedMom #superHero," Tamra writes.
When several of Tamra's fans respond to reassure her that he should be OK, Tamra offers a follow-up question. "What about the people that have symptoms. Medication or blood donation is enough?" she asks.
So clearly, Ryan has been suffering from symptoms from the disease, which can include joint pain, fatigue, and weakness. That doesn't sound like fun, and so we wish Ryan all the best!
