Pop sweetheart (and historical man eater) Taylor Swift shared a not-so-surprising photo with newest BFF Lorde over the weekend, and it’s got the music world talking.
The picture, captioned “Bare feet in the sand on a Saturday,” features the hitmaker, along with the “Royals” singer (real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor) strolling on a beach in California.
No stranger to criticism, Lorde made headlines a few weeks back after blasting Selena Gomez and a handful of other pop starlets while being interviewed by Rolling Stone.
"I love pop music on a sonic level," the 17-year-old told the magazine in September. "But I'm a feminist and the theme of [Gomez’s] song ['Come & Get It'] is, 'When you're ready come and get it from me.' I'm sick of women being portrayed this way."
Yet, despite the harsh words about Taylor’s former BFF, it seems Tay-Tay and Lorde, who’ve previously praised each other via social media, have become fast friends. In addition to the beach stroll, Lorde even cuddled up close to Taylor during her birthday celebration in December. The pair has also been spotted shopping and dining around LA in recent weeks.
But what do we think the best thing about this friendship might prove to be? Beyond an absolutely scorching anti-man-and-materialism pop hit, the pairing could prove the most refreshing (and hilarious) marketing ploy for the New York clothing establishment of the same(ish) name. Seriously, Lord(e) & Taylor should strike while the iron is hot!
