Is Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation’ About Katy, Kim, Kanye, or Calvin?

Taylor Swift’s reputation took a beating in 2016, and here in 2017, she seems to be addressing the controversy head-on with her forthcoming album — titled Reputation, naturally.

The 27-year-old pop star purged her entire Instagram and Twitter history in lieu of posts promoting this sixth album.

But Reputation, due in November, can’t all be introspection and self-reflection, right? She wouldn’t be T.Swift if she weren’t writing songs about the people she feels did her wrong, no?

So now, the Internet is rife with speculation about possible targets for her special brand of passive-aggressivity.

We’ve pored over the speculation, and here’s all the evidence we’ve found that Taylor is coming for Katy Perry, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Calvin Harris… or all of the above!

Katy Perry

Entire volumes could be written about the years of “Bad Blood” between Taylor and Katy, and while Katy is ready to kiss and make up, Tay has not made any overtures of reconciliation thus far.

Fans did see a glimmer of hope when Katy hyped her “Swish Swish” music video by tweeting “COUNTDOWN TO CATASTROPHE” — as Catastrophe was Taylor Swift’s nickname in her “Bad Blood” music video.

But Katy’s music video came out today, and Taylor is nowhere to be found. Now all hatchet-burying hope lies with the 2017 MTV VMAs, an award show known for its jaw-dropping moments.

But the grim reality may be that Taylor is still just as angry with Katy as ever, and Reputation will be all about her.

Kanye West

After Kanye infamously crashed Taylor’s big moment in the 2009 VMAs spotlight, they actually made nice at the 2015 VMAs.

And thus, peace settled upon Hollywood… for all of seven months.

Then came “Famous,” in which Kanye rapped that he and Taylor “might still have sex” and he “made that bitch famous.”

(For the record, this is all a narrative that Taylor “would very much like to be excluded from.” Let’s give her points for effort.)

So is Reputation about Yeezy?

As Twitter has pointed out, the blackletter typeface on Taylor’s album cover looks awfully similar to the typeface on Kanye’s Life of Pablo merch.

(Then again, it also looks like the masthead for newspapers like The New York Times.)

Kim Kardashian

Meanwhile, Mrs. Kanye West was the one behind what is perhaps the most iconic brandishing of receipts in the history of social media.

After Taylor took offense to “Famous,” Kim Snapchatted a video in which Taylor can be heard on speakerphone, green-lighting his lyric about them having sex.

Plus, in that album cover, Taylor is pictured with her hair slicked back, a look of which Kim is particularly fond.

And the snake videos Tay has been posting on Instagram to promote the album might refer to the snake emojis Kim posted in a subtweet almost certainly about Taylor.

All of this is reportedly making Kim very nervous

Calvin Harris

Of all the guys with whom Tay Tay is “never, ever getting back together,” Calvin Harris is probably close to the top of the list.

Calvin lashed out after Taylor’s team confirmed she co-wrote his hit “This Is What You Came For” under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg.

“I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy etc. but I’m not that guy, sorry,” Cal tweeted. “I won’t allow it.”

So what evidence do we have that Reputation might boast a Calvin-centric diss track? For one, Instagram users spammed her account with snake emojis at the height of the Calvin drama.

Also, don’t forget how fond Taylor is of writing songs about her “long list of ex-lovers.”

All the more reason to count down the days until November 10!
