The Walking Dead Teased With Horrific Subway Ad in Germany (PHOTO)
Here in America we have plenty of ads for The Walking Dead, but they are relatively tame when compared to ads for TWD in foreign countries. While us yankees get ads like the one with a gaping hole in the prison fence, our foreign comrades have to deal with diseased pigs — and now, zombie face cream!
Per The Hollywood Reporter, a new ad campaign in Germany aiming to encourage female viewers to watch the zombie drama cleverly poses as an advertisement for anti-aging cream, but with a disgusting twist! The two-image ad first features an ordinary young woman using the Good Night Cleansing Program, while a second photo directly underneath shows the same face cream but with a zombified version of the once-attractive woman. Yikes!
It’s certainly clevver, but also slightly disturbing.
The ads, which are actually electronic billboards, can be seen in some Berlin subway stations, and could be rolled out in even more stations in Berlin, and across other major cities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in the near future. The campaign was developed by Berlin agency Saint Elmo's exclusively for Fox Germany, and the woman is meant to morph from human to walker as people walk by. Talk about creepy!

Creative Managing Director at Saint Elmo’s, Dennis Pfisterer, says that research shows women are just as interested in the horror genre as men, hence the unique subject of the ad. “We drastically countered the outdated cliche that all horror fans are male by using a cliched image in the style of a beauty product ad, so that we could appeal above all to female horror fans, alongside male fans, with this concept of a ‘makeup removal program for good TV nights,'” he tells THR.
