Teen Donates Kidney to Save Mom’s Life!

In need of a pick-me-up? Feast your eyes on this heartwarming story of Chicago teen Tevin Hamilton, who recently agreed to donate a kidney to a complete stranger in order to save his mother's life.

Tevin's mom, Rhonda McClarn, learned she needed a kidney when Tevin was a mere 6 years old, and he wanted to help her the moment he found out. "When I first found out, it was kind of sad, because I was like, ‘Now she’s helpless,’ and I want to save her,” Hamilton tells CBS.

Tevin offered to donate his kidney as soon as he reached age 18, but sadly it wasn't a suitable fit for Rhonda — who's been on dialysis for years. Tevin refused to give up hope, and soon learned that he could take part in a paired kidney exchange, in which he'll donate a kidney to a complete stranger and in return his mom will get a transplant from a suitable donor.

The doctors recently found a match, which means Tevin and Rhonda will have surgery on November 25. "I just cried and prayed, cried and prayed, because I didn’t think I would ever hear that,” Rhonda says. Meanwhile, Tevi says he's "excited" about helping his mom — not to mention donating a kidney to a stranger in need!

Holiday miracle right here, y'all.
