Recap of Teen Mom 2 Season 5, Episode 4 (February 11, 2014)
Better grab a box of tissues and say goodbye to your will to live, because this week's episode of Teen Mom 2 was a hot mess of emotions. Poor Leah Messer just can't catch a break when it comes to her precious daughter Aliannah Hope's health, and to make matters worse her ex-hubby, Corey Simms (and his baseball hat — we see you, buddy!) seem to be in denial.
Not only did Corey straight-up tell Leah that he doesn't think there's anything wrong with Ali during a stimulating conversation in the parking lot of a strip mall (aka their favorite hang spot), he told his new wife, Miranda, that he doesn't want Ali to have any more medical tests. As in zero, zip, nada, none.
Apparently (and completely understandably), Corey wants his sweet daughter to enjoy life and live like a "normal" child despite her muscular dystrophy diagnosis, but his high hopes might be somewhat unrealistic. In fact, Leah thinks he's straight up in denial. While she's being pragmatic about the realities of Ali's future, Corey's fantasizing about his little lady playing softball. We're sensing a major disconnect between these former lovebirds!
It looks like Leah and Corey will have to agree to disagree on the right course of action for Ali's future treatment, but hopefully they can find a happy medium between both of their viewpoints. We definitely see where Corey is coming from, but wouldn't further testing help doctors find out even more about Ali's rare form of muscular dystrophy, and help with treatment options?
