MTV Casting New ‘Teen Mom’ Franchise — But There’s a Catch
As much as we hate to admit it, the series finales of Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 is inevitable — and we’re afraid this news surrounding a potential Teen Mom 4 could mean the end is coming sooner than we think!
MTV just put out a new casting call on their website, looking for girls to be a part of a new installment of Teen Mom.
But unlike past seasons, which starred girls from 16 & Pregnant, the upcoming series would feature a brand new cast, and we’d meet the moms when they’re in their 20’s, rather than as pregnant teens still in high school. Interesting.
According to Teen Mom Junkies, the casting call notice is as follows:
MTV is casting for a new season of the thought-provoking documentary series Teen Mom. This series follows the journeys of strong-willed and opinionated women who faced an unexpected pregnancy as a teen and now, in their early 20's, are navigating the difficulties of raising a child.
Our goal is to give viewers a look inside the realities of motherhood — from balancing school and/or work responsibilities to navigating incredibly difficult decisions and relationships with boyfriends and parents.
MTV is looking for mothers from varying backgrounds who had children in their late teens and those children are now between the ages of 4 and 7; who would like to share their dramatic personal stories about their complicated journeys.
You may recall that last year, there was a report the upcoming sixth season of 16 & Pregnant would be retooled, adopting the Teen Mom format where it’d follow four girls throughout the season rather than feature a different girl each episode. This, of course, would’ve made it easier to transition to a spin-off.

It’s unclear if that is still happening, but if MTV really is casting a 20’s version of the show, we think it’d be weird meeting them without 16 & Pregnant at all. Plus, wouldn’t the network have to change the name of the series altogether if they’re not even teens?!
And just to bring it back to what we said about the end of Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2, it seems like these potential new series could eventually be replacing the two fan favorite franchises (Teen Mom 3 only lasted one season). We feel you, Leah.
But then again, the casts of OG and TM2 are approaching their mid-twenties now and most are settled down with stable jobs and relationships, so we definitely think there’s some room for fresh meat!
Stay tuned — we promise to keep you posted as we find out more deets!
Teen Mom OG premieres tonight, January 4 at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
