‘Teen Mom OG’ Recap: Why Ryan Edwards Gets Kicked Out & More Big Reveals
Read on for all the deets on TMOG Season 6 Episode 9.
Catelynn Goes Back To Her Old Ways
Last week we saw Cate relapse after treatment by still smoking pot, and this week it seems her depression is slowly creeping back up, too.
And the problem? She doesn’t want to help herself, and Tyler has been advised by the professionals not to tell her to do so.
“I can’t even plant the seeds,” he tells a concerned friend. "That’s me saying, ‘what are you doing? What’s going on?’ I’m not supposed to influence her at all."
But after speaking to their family therapist, Kathleen, Ty agrees to confront his wife about her going back to her old ways since it’s at the point where it’s affecting their marriage.
"You’re walking through life like a log,” he tells her after she complains she’s bored. “If you go into this thing again, I have to check out. I’ll get hardened, I’ll close everybody off."
Cate then blames her mental illness for everything, but as we know this is just a bump in the road for our fave OG couple and doesn’t actually mean they’re going to split like editing might want us to believe. Thank goodness!
Farrah Starts Up Another Business
Like most people her age, Farrah rings in the big 2-5 by preparing for the opening of Froco, her local frozen yogurt shop that is “healthy and innovative, like me!”
Things get off to a rough start when Farrah yells at her
assistants parents for not properly knowing how to work the shop’s fridges and freezers. She even threatens to make Michael dress up as the mascot, Coba!
But after an interesting employee interview process and a little mother/daughter dinner with Debra and Sophia, Farrah and Deb finally have a normal, civil conversation before things officially open for business.
"I'm happy I am where I am, thats for sure," Farrah says when her mom tells her how proud she is of her business sense.
NEWS: Are Farrah & Simon Still Together IRL?
And we guess Farrah is doing a-okay financially considering she lets Sophia order three (!!!) children’s meals at the restaurant. That kid seriously lives the LIFE.
Amber Has a Lightbulb Moment About Her Weight
Amber lost 40 pounds but gained 20 back, so she starts seeing a weight loss doctor who puts her on a restrictive diet to help her get back on track.
“I don’t know how to keep it off,” she admits to producers. "If I gain all my weight back, how much of an inspiration am I?”
It’s clear her diet is not ideal and watching Matt and Leah eat fast food in front of her while she’s chomping on string beans and grilled chicken is basically torturous.
But some good comes out of this, as it helps Amber realize why she can’t keep the weight off.
“This is a part of my life that's a struggle just like addiction was a struggle,” the now-sober mama realizes. “I switched my other addiction [to pills] to eating."
Matt Reveals He and Amber Are “Crazy Happy”
Things are a bit better on the relationship front for Amber and Matt, though.
The 44-year-old tells a friend he is still unbothered by the tabloid rumors about his supposed secret kids and child support cases, which have all been thrown out.
"In the end, I won,” he says, victoriously. “What the rest of the world thinks doesn’t matter. We're crazy happy."
Ryan Gets Kicked Out of His Parents’ House
We guess 28 years is too long to be living with your parents, because Larry, Ryan’s dad, reveals he kicked his son out and he’s now living in another house nearby owned by Jen and her siblings.
"I'm over his lies, his laziness, selfishness,” Larry tells producers. “I'm done with it.”
"I don’t want him anywhere around me EVER. And I don't want to be around him EVER. I'm tired of that blood-sucking leech. I'm over it."
Pretty harsh words for a father to say about his son around Father’s Day, no less!
It’s unclear exactly what causes the blow-up fight, but Ryan, the articulate one that he is, tries to shed some light on the situation.
“Me and my dad got in an argument,” he begins. “He got mad over some allen wrenches, I think. He’s just a dick. Been that way since I was little. He rode my ass constantly about stupid s—t. I just got pissed about it this time."
The Edwards Bring Bentley Into Their Drama
But you know who’s seriously pissed? Maci, who hates that Ryan and his parents are dragging her son into their drama.
"Don’t bring Bentley into the middle of your bulls—t,” she tells Taylor after getting a text from Jen asking if she can pick him up since Ryan won’t.
Thanks to Jen, Benny gets to spend Father’s Day with his dad, but not before Ryan misses his baseball game again — and insults his haircut.
"You look like you’ve got a 1980’s mullet!” Ryan tells mini-me, killing the kiddo’s self-esteem left and right.
“Everyone should grow the hell up,” Maci says of the entire situation.
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
