Teen Mom 2's Jenelle Evans made headlines yet again on May 20 when she was arrested for skipping a court date to face cyberstalking charges stemming from a 2012 incident. According to her superstar lawyer, Dustin Sullivan, the 21-year-old North Carolina resident was simply "running late" — but in her latest blog entry, Jenelle admits that she not only forgot about the appointment altogether, but she was a good six hours away from home when she realized she'd missed it!
"My mom wanted me to go with her on her vacation to Hickory, N.C. I was going there with Jace and my mom to see my older brother who lives there," she explains. "Now Hickory is six hours away from where we live! So my mom tells me, 'Check your court dates before we leave.' I did and I told her all my court dates and didn't realize I had ONE which was yesterday's court date."
So you can imagine Jenelle's surprise with Dustin texted her at 9 a.m., telling her to be in court by 9:30. Whoops!
The you-know-what hit the fan when Jenelle told her mom Barbara, who yelled the entire drive back. Unfortunately, things only went from bad for worse for the Teen Mom 2 star when she arrived home in Brunswick County...
Dustin informed Jenelle that since the courts closed early, she would be facing a FTA (Failure to Appear) and $1,000 secure bond. Her only choice was to turn herself in and pay the fee — but on the upside, the charges would be dropped. Silver lining?
Unfortunately, Jenelle can't rid herself of the bad press, which seems to follow her everywhere she goes. And for this particular incident, she blames the courts for closing their doors early.
"I have no idea why in the world they did that to me, to make myself end up in the media again for the wrong reasons," she said calling the whole thing a big misunderstanding.
Sigh. We don't want to keep writing bad news about you, Jenelle, so please takes our friendly advice and invest in an appointment book before your next court date. Cool?
