On June 26, the U.S. Supreme Court made two landmark decisions in support of gay marriage — and LGBT ally Maci Bookout couldn't be more stoked! Not only did the Court declare the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) unconstitutional, extending all federal benefits to legally married same-sex couples, but they also dismissed the case on Prop 8, bringing an end to California's controversial gay marriage ban.

Maci spoke out in support of the Court's rulings with an Instagram picture stating that being gay isn't a choice. "This is in honor of #DOMA & #PROP8 being struck down. #NOH8 marry who you love," the 21-year-old Teen Mom star wrote along with the image.

Little did Maci know, she had just sparked a massive debate among her divided fanbase. Within a couple of hours, that image had amassed over 1,200 comments from impassioned followers, some of whom agreed wholeheartedly with Maci's stance on gay rights. And others? Not so much.

But Maci remained unscathed by the squabbling and encouraged her fans to follow suit. "I can tell some of those people commenting on my instagram already need a beer, and its only noon," she joked, quickly changing the subject.

Regardless of which side of the fence you're on, Maci's got a pretty good point. Let's chill out and have a productive conversation. Preferably over a Heineken. What? It's 5 o'clock somewhere.
