Oh don't worry, guys. A random English woman just popped out a baby after not knowing she was pregnant for a full nine months. As in there was a living baby floating around her stomach and she had no clue. Welcome to our worst nightmare!
Apparently, 22-year-old Nadia Watson was sleeping happily when she woke up with "period cramps," high-tailed it to the bathroom, and then proceeded to collapse on the floor and pop out a child. Nadia gave birth to the baby herself, a gorgeous 7lb, 11oz girl named Poppy, and was screaming so loudly during the processes that her neighbors called the police — who showed up at the house shortly after the baby's birth. We know, the horror.
"It was a complete surprise — I didn't have a clue that I was pregnant," Nadia said. "I was still having regular periods, I remained a size ten, and I only put on a tiny bit of weight which I put down to eating too many burgers at my new job at Frankie and Benny's."
If you're wondering where Nadia's baby daddy, Lewis McSweeney, was during this string of events, that would be in bed sleeping. Yep, this bloke slept through his girlfriend's labor pains and only got up to meet his new daughter. "He can literally sleep through anything," Nadia explained. "Fire alarms, the lot. I have no idea how he does it. I went into our bedroom after I had given birth and showed Lewis the baby but he just went back to sleep. I woke him up again and he realized what had happened and he was completely in shock."
We know what you're thinking: How did Nadia not realize she was pregnant? Turns out she barely gained any weight during her pregnancy, and stayed a slim size ten throughout the duration. Luckily, this new mom knew exactly what to do once she realized she was about to go into labor.
"I went to the bathroom and collapsed with pain," she said. "I realized I was in labor and just decided to keep pushing. Most people have a team of people around them telling them what to do and when but I just had to keep pushing on my own. When Poppy was born she was completely silent which absolutely terrified me but then she wiggled and I was just completely relieved."
Lewis says he was "quite embarrassed" to have slept through Nadia's surprise delivery, adding that he was in "complete shock for days." Good thing little Poppy is happy and healthy — what a great (if somewhat traumatizing) surprise!
