Nathan Steffel was grieving the death of his newborn daughter, Sophia, who died a mere six weeks after her birth from a hepatic hemangioma in her liver. He posted a photo on Reddit of his baby girl with a feeding tube, along with a request for someone skilled in Photoshop to edit out the tubes.

The Ohio dad explained, “Since she was in the hospital her whole life, we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?”

Ask and ye shall receive. Realizing the heartbreaking nature of this tiny request, Nathan was soon overwhelmed with people coming forward to help.

In fact, so many strangers sent photos and sketches of his daughter, Nathan stayed up until 3 a.m. trying to respond and thank everyone, only to become so inundated. The photos immediately went viral, while the strangers’ act of kindness made news around the world.

A grateful Nathan told Buzzfeed, “It helped knowing that others cared enough to stop whatever they were doing in their own lives to either send me a picture or just their condolences.”

We don’t know about you, but some days it seems like the internet is full of haters and trolls. As of today, it's refreshing to see people across the world wide web doing some good.

Kudos to these sweet samaritans for giving a bit of comfort to this family in their time of need.
