We love nothing more than when the ladies of Teen Mom get together off camera — especially when it's for a good cause. These world-famous baby mamas usually don't cross paths, but we're thrilled to report that Kailyn Lowry and Catelynn Lowell joined forces in Michigan to help a little girl with cancer.
Catelynn and Kailyn (and their baby daddies, Tyler Baltierra and Javi Marroquin) teamed up with Mom2Mom and The LinkFund to organize a meet-n-greet, which raised money for 3-year-old cancer patient Amelie Strzalkowski. Sadly, Amie's parents fear her tumor is returning — despite the fact that she underwent surgery to remove the cancer in April.
The good news is that Catelynn and Kailyn's charity event raised nearly $2,500 — including proceeds from sales of Kailyn's memoir, Pride Over Pity. “Way more people came than we all thought,” Kail tells The Ashley's Reality Roundup.
“As much as it hurts my heart that Amie and her family have been going through this I feel so thankful to be able to do something like this to help her — and hopefully more families in the future — out.”
Kailyn is eager to use her celebrity status to help others, and hopes she can continue using her platform for charitable work. "I would have never imagined that the show would give us these kinds of opportunities to help other families beyond teen pregnancy prevention,” Kail says.
“We loved hanging out with Tyler and Catelynn! They’re great people. There will definitely be more joint events. We are already talking about what we can do next to give back.”
It's wonderful that Catelynn and Kailyn were able to raise so much money for Amie. To donate to her fund, head here.
