Amber Portwood Update: Is the Teen Mom Allowed to See Baby Leah in Jail?
Amber Portwood has been sentenced to 5 years in jail, and after mental and emotional evaluation, it's been decided that she'll stay at the Rockville Correctional Facility in Indiana.
“Amber’s sentence is five years, but could be as little as 2 1/2 years for good behavior,” Douglas S. Garrison, Chief Communications Officer of Indiana Department of Correction, tells Hollywood Life.
The Rockville Correctional Facility is a dorm-style jail where 1,100 women live in groups of 16/room. Doug says that Amber will spend her days going to "therapeutic programming which includes anger management. If she so chooses, she can get her high school diploma and take adult education classes.”
The really great news is that Amber can finally see Leah and Gary!
“She now has visitation rights and can see her daughter," Doug says. "There is a family visiting area center which has books and toys."
Yay, Leah will have so much fun visiting her mommy! It's awful that Amber's in jail, but as long as she can see Leah regularly and deal with her anger issues, she should be allright.
