Twitter is a wonderful way for celebrities to connect with their fans, but it's also a great way to open yourself up to criticism. Case in point, Teen Mom's resident sweetheart, Catelynn Lowell. This gal posted a retweet which used n-word (the offending RT seems to have been deleted), and the internet has exploded in accusations of racism.

"Omg ppl really? Chill out!" Catelynn wrote in her defense. "I'm not racist can anyone do anything right these days?"

We would never assume Cate is racist based on one misguided tweet, but as one fan pointed out, "I love you and Tyler … but you RTed a racist slur :/"

Cate's response? "No it's called slang. It didn't say 'n—' which I hate that word. It said n—a," she explains. "Don't judge me when u don't know what I believe."

Cate should probably think twice before using the "slang" version of the n-word, but let's assume that this gal just wasn't thinking about how her words might affect people!
