Farrah Abraham might be a momtrepreneur (pasta sauce, anyone?), but girlfriend hasn't always had an easy time making money. After she popped out Baby Sophia, Farrah moved out of her parents' house to get her Miss Independent on.
"I didn't want to reach out to my parents for help even when I was really in a bind," she tells Maci Bookout and Catelynn Lowell during the Teen Mom After Show. "Still to this day my parents are like, 'Why don't you just move back home?'"
Farrah was shocked to find out how much it would cost her to live alone, so she started cooking all her meals, and even tried to make her own clothes. "I was more of a crafty, thrifty person on my first apartment because I didn't realize how much money it was," she explains.
Luckily, Sophia qualified for social security because her father, Derek Underwood, died before she was born — but it was hard for Farrah to get the government to give up Sophia's cash.
"Through the whole process, so many people were looking at me like, 'Is Derek really the dad?' 'What are you using this for?'" Farrah says. "The one person who was behind me — and I don't know if it shows that much — was my dad. He was consistent. Even before Sophia was born, he was like, 'Farrah, you need to take care of this social security.'"
Nowadays, Sophia has social security and Farrah's rolling in dough! No literally, we assume she makes lots of pizzas with that sauce of hers.
