Does Gary Shirley Have a Job?
Raising baby Leah while Amber Portwood serves her 5-year prison sentence is no doubt a full-time job, but we're interested in Gary Shirley's real job — that is, if he has one.
A few weeks ago, Gary denied that he's using food stamps after the tabloids accused him of quitting his job and throwing his money away on cars and alcohol. Sounds like a far cry from his former days as a health care provider …
Rewind the clock to when we first met Gary and Amber on 16 and Pregnant. Amber was at home caring for Leah full time, while Gary was working as a certified nurse's aid with developmentally disabled patients. Unfortunately, he got laid off during Season 2 of Teen Mom, but found some steady work doing "in-home health care." He also apparently received a sizable check from MTV.
So what's Gary up to these days? One of his "friends" dished to HollywoodLife that Gary quit his job as a home health care provider, is living off unemployment benefits, and is "too lazy to go back to getting a real job."
Although Gary denied using food stamps, he hasn't denied or confirmed the status of his employment. However, he continually stresses that he's doing everything he can to take care Leah.
