Safe sex is a topic that's near and dear to the stars of MTV's Teen Mom, but they're not the only celebs with an opinion on the matter. Actress Elizabeth Banks is taking a stance on a related subject — Planned Parenthood.
The Hunger Games actress used Planned Parenthood as her primary healthcare provider when she didn’t have insurance after college. The organization covered her birth control, medications, and routine screenings.
Elizabeth filmed this PSA supporting the organization along with the Obama/Biden presidential campaign.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and other critics hope to pull all federal funding for Planned Parenthood, based on the organization's willingness to provide abortion services. But Ms. Banks wants women to know that there’s more to Planned Parenthood than those practices.
She mentions that 95 percent of the services provided by Planned Parenthood are noncontroversial. These include pap smears, mammograms, and STD screenings.
