Maci Bookout: Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley "Need to Stay Away From Each Other"

We’ve all watched as Teen Mom Amber Portwood has struggled with physical violence and addiction, and her co-stars sympathize with her troubles.

“I can’t imagine how hard it must be for her to be there and be away from her child,” Maci Bookout said of Amber's time in rehab on the Teen Mom After Show.

The girls think that negative comments are partially to blame for Amber's downfall.

“How is she supposed to get better if people keep throwing her past problems in her face?” Catelynn Lowell asked. “Gary’s not all that perfect either!”

After the girls watched a clip of Amber and Gary fighting in a therapy session at rehab, Maci made her feelings about the couple clear.

“In my opinion, they need to stay away from each other,” Maci said. “They’re not going to be able to make a relationship work until they’re both happy and healthy, separated.”
