Teen Mom star Amber Portwood was rushed to a local hospital after threatening suicide on June 14, 2011. What pushed the troubled mother of baby Leah into such a deep depression? Her run-ins with the law probably have a little something to do with it...
After getting violent with Gary — in front of Leah — in an infamous fall 2010 episode of Teen Mom, Amber was arrested for domestic battery and neglect of a dependent on December 28, 2010; she spent one night in jail and was prevented from having any contact with Gary until February 2011.
Amber made her June 9, 2011 court date and pleaded guilty to two counts of felony domestic battery. The judge dropped her two-year sentence and the no-contact order that prevented her from seeing Gary when Leah wasn’t present, instead placing Amber on two years’ probation.
Despite this light sentence, Amber reportedly ingested one too many pills that fateful day in June. Gary was supportive of Amber throughout her recovery — including a summer stint at a Malibu rehab center — but now they're officially dunzo.
Unfortunately, things only got worse for Amber, who was arrested for drug possession and parole violations in December 2011. The Teen Mom is now serving a 5-year jail sentence at Indiana's Rockville Correctional Facility.
