Teen Mom Leah Messer Calvert has spent plenty of time in the doctor’s office with her daughter, Aliannah Simms. So what is it, exactly, that her nearly-three-year-old daughter has been suffering from?
Leah and her baby daddy, Corey Simms, still have yet to learn exactly why Ali is developing more slowly than her twin sister, Aleeah, but doctors think it may have something to do with the positioning of the two girls in the womb.
While the mystery has yet to be solved completely, Aliannah might be suffering from a type of skeletal dysplasia, a condition that’s often seen in twins and is characterized by a disproportionately short stature and abnormalities in bone growth.
While it’s clear that Aliannah has been growing at a slower rate than her sis, there’s one part of her developmental that hasn’t been delayed: her learning ability! In a recent evaluation, Leah’s little one “scored beyond a 5-year-old’s level cognitively.” Now that’s one smart two-year-old!
