Reality TV fans are getting super hyped for Teen Mom 3, the next installment of MTV's hit docu-series, starring 16 and Pregnant Season 4 favorites Mackenzie Douthit, Briana DeJesus, Katie Yeager, and Alexandria Sekella. But rumor has it the network plans to give the new show the ax … before it even airs!
Thankfully, the Teen Mom 3 girls are setting the record straight.
"There WILL be a Teen Mom 3. No sir date yet, but MTV is still gonna show it," Briana wrote on Twitter on April 3, shortly after the rumors began circulating the interwebs. "So please don't talk s—like you know. Bye."
Katie chimed in when another follower asked, "No TM3?" saying, "Lies. There is one. People were confused."
MTV confirmed the cast of Teen Mom 3 back in October, but we haven't heard a peep from the network since. However, we do know that production on Season 1 officially wrapped back in December, and the girls have already taped their first reunion special with Dr. Drew in New York City.
While things are looking good for the future of Teen Mom 3, it's important to remember that anything can happen. Just look at Teen Mom 2, which, according to the New York Post, has found itself on the chopping block after four successful seasons. Critics of the series believe it has strayed too far from its original message, and that certain hard-partying cast members (read: Jenelle Evans) have become too much of a liability.
When Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with MTV in February, no decision about a fifth season of Teen Mom 2 had been made. As for Teen Mom 3, the network responded by saying that a premiere date has not yet been set.
Are you looking forward to meeting Mackenzie, Briana, Katie, and Alex on Teen Mom 3, or should MTV end the Teen Mom franchise for good?
