Tyler Hoechlin (pronounced “Heck-lin”) has two passions — acting and baseball — but he can’t do both. When he was offered the chance to play a supernatural creature on Teen Wolf, he decided to take a break from his favorite sport and bring his smoldering self to MTV. We thank you for that, Ty!

Tyler got his big break when he was only 15, playing Tom Hanks’s son in Road to Perdition. That led to a recurring role (as Martin Brewer) on 7th Heaven, which landed him a 2004 Teen Choice Award nomination for Breakout Male Star. He has also appeared on the small screen in CSI: Miami, Lincoln Heights, and Castle, and he recently had some fun opposite Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis in the 2011 comedy Hall Pass. He joined the cast of Teen Wolf in 2011 as Derek Hale.

Tyler played college baseball for Arizona State University and UC Irvine, and he still has dreams of one day going pro.
