We’ve known for almost a year that Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe could face jail time. Now, the reality of that fact is staring us straight in the face. After pleading guilty on March 4, Teresa and Joe will soon be sentenced for their 41 counts of federal fraud, and E! Online has revealed their official sentencing date.
Teresa and Joe will receive their sentence on July 8, 2014, just over four months from now. As things stand, it seems most likely that Joe will spend three to four years in prison, while Teresa will get less than two.
That means the Real Housewives of New Jersey couple has a lot of work to do over the next four months. Teresa and Joe's legal crisis consultant Wendy Feldman spoke with E! Online about what her team will be working on to prepare for sentencing.
She says that Tre and Joe are “starting now” to plan for how they will present their side of the case. "We try to paint a picture of who they are as people. It's post-conviction. What we do now is we show you the person not the crime,” she says.
Wendy is fully aware that her clients’ status as reality stars makes for a “very unique circumstance.” She’s preparing for the possibility that this very well might work against them.
"There has never been a case of this magnitude involving a celebrity and his wife from a hit show,” she says. “ It could very well be a case of reverse celebrity justice."
