Teresa and Joe Giudice Could Face More Than 50 Years in Prison For Money Fraud, Tax Evasion, and More
Teresa and Joe Giudice may have finally buried the hatchet with Melissa and Joe Gorga, but The Real Housewives of New Jersey couple is now reportedly facing some serious legal troubles that could send both of them to prison for more than 50 years if they are convicted of all counts.
TMZ reports that the reality couple was slapped with a “laundry list of criminal charges” on July 29, including bank fraud and tax evasion, and they were indicted on a grand total of 39 counts. According to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman, Tre and Juicy Joe “massively defrauded the IRS as well as several banks between 2001-2008.”
As part of the fraud, the couple illegally obtained mortgages and withheld crucial information regarding their net worth after filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection back in 2009.
To add insult to injury, Joe is also accused of “failing to file income tax returns for the years 2004-2008.”
Teresa and Joe weren't arrested, but they are due in a New Jersey courtroom tomorrow morning, July 30. If convicted of bank fraud alone, the couple could be sentenced to 30 years behind bars, but when you add on some of the other charges it’s possible that they could be sent to prison for more than 50 years.
We’ll bring you more as this story develops, but it doesn’t look good for the Giudice clan.
