Teresa and Joe Giudice Plead Guilty to Fraud Charges (VIDEO)

It's happened. Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa and Joe Giudice pleaded guilty to several mortgage and bankruptcy fraud charges this morning, March 4, 2014, reports The Star-Ledger.

The Jersey couple were charged with 39 counts of federal fraud last summer, with two more charges added in fall. They only pleaded guilty to a handful of those charges today — the exact number has not been reported (UPDATE: it was nine combined). The charges they pleaded guilty to include bankruptcy fraud, conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud, plus failure to pay taxes.

Teresa and Joe have not yet been sentenced — that will happen at a later date. However, according to the AP report Joe could face between three and four years in jail. Teresa, meanwhile, could face around two years behind bars. While any jail time is hard, given that the original charges came with up to a 50 year sentence, those numbers don't seem too bad.

The question of whether or not Joe, who's not an American citizen, could be deported back to Italy, is reportedly still up in the air. We'll keep you updated as more information comes in.

For now, we're wishing the Giudice family well in this stressful time. Hopefully the four Giudice girls will be able to get through this period with as little distress as possible.
