Grey’s Anatomy’s Tessa Ferrer Dissects Leah’s Attraction to Arizona

One of the Grey Sloan Memorial interns gave us a surprising twist last week on Grey's Anatomy when she flirted with a member of the same sex! We didn't realize that Leah (Tessa Ferrer) was even interested in women — especially since she hooked up with Alex (Justin Chambers) at one point — but there she was, flirting with Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) at Joe's Bar.

"I don't think she labels herself," Tessa explains in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "Arizona is her first female partner. Leah likes attention … She's really smitten with Arizona because Arizona is paying attention back to her."

But what about the fact that Arizona is still technically married to Callie (Sara Ramirez)? Does that mean that Leah shouldn't be putting her best game on the peds surgeon?

"At this point, I feel like Leah hasn't crossed the line," Tessa muses. "She's just flirting at the bar with the woman who just got kicked out of her apartment."

Tonight's episode — Season 10, Episode 6: "Map of You" — promises some more development for the relationship co-star Jerrika Hinton (Stephanie Edwards) dubbed Lezona, and Tessa already sees some of the icebergs that threaten this new 'ship.

"As we saw with how Leah behaved when Alex paid her a bit of attention, she lays it on thick and she falls hard fast," she says. "This is a really vulnerable time for Leah and hopefully Arizona will be able to take care of her in the process. And hopefully Leah will be able to … take care of herself and say what she needs."

Do you think Leah and Arizona will try out a relationship? Speculate away below, and be sure to tune into Grey's Anatomy tonight at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
