We’ve reached the third and final week of American Idol auditions, which means we’re down to the wire on which contestants will truly compete for the coveted crown! While we’re only in the beginning stages of Season 13, this year’s show has already proven to be different from seasons past. (Thanks in large part to one Harry Connick Jr.)

Of course, there’s one thing that hasn’t changed: numerous rounds of nail-biting auditions! January 30’s episode finds Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. in Omaha, Nebraska in hopes of finding their next big superstar!

It’s here where the judges meet Tessa Kat, a 25-year-old country cutie from Arkansas. Armed with her black guitar, she decides to show off her unique style with a rendition of “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash. Though she’s a little too retro country to fit the American Idol mold, she’s definitely got a vibe that makes her interesting to the judges.

“Half of me thinks it was a bit light and that you’re going to get crushed by the other singers,” says Keith. “But the other half of me thinks at least you’ve got your own little lane that you’re in.”

“You have a classic, timeless sound to me,” adds Harry. “I really dug it. I think you have a great voice. I can’t wait to see more of you!”

And with that, Tessa’s on her way to Hollywood!

What do you think of Tessa’s performance? Will she make it to the Top 31? Read our spoilers here!
