People of the ‘90s, rejoice! After a stellar performance in New York City a couple weeks ago, R&B singer Tevin Campbell has announced that he’s making a comeback with new music, and we couldn’t be anymore anxious about it!
Recently Madame Noire caught up with the Texas singer on the red carpet at Faith Evans’s record release party, and the singer gave fans an update on his life.
“I did a little Broadway. I did that for five years. But now I’m currently working on some new material that will be out very very soon,” he dished, adding that fans could hear him when he performs at the Essence Festival in a few weeks. “So I’m slowly sneaking back into it, so it won’t be too much longer.”
The Grammy-nominated artist also gave his views on the current state of R&B today, saying, “There are a lot of artists that I like. I think we could use a bit more turn around to the original, but times change. ” Tevin added that challenge for him coming back onto the music scene is staying current since“kids don’t care how good you can sing,” but the Texas singer thinks that he’ll be OK so long as he stays “original.”
“I think artists like that surpass,” Tevin explained, adding, “and that’s what I really want to do.”
Now excuse us while we play “Alone With You” on our old school CD players. Yes, CD players.
