Location: The middle of absolute nowhere, at the end of a dark path
Transportation: Hot car (Aston Martin?)
Fashion: He's in a suit and tie, she's in a cute sleeveless tulle dress Brad's mid-date progress report: "It's been a lot of years since I've met a girl right off the bat and felt comfortable enough to just be me."
Ashley's mid-date progress report: "This is the best date I've ever been on."
First kiss: Big one. Open mouth. Goes on for a while.
Cute moments: Photo booth time, sharing cotton candy, squealing on all the rides, winning a teddy bear, kissing on the Ferris wheel
Brad on Ashley: "Let's face it, this girl's the entire package. Intelligent. Pretty. I feel like I can be myself around her. I like this girl. I like this girl a lot."
Ashley on Brad: "Standing here kissing Brad just feels amazing. I never thought that I would, like, fall so quickly for somebody. This is all so new to me. I could see myself with him, and this first date is just the start of something that could be really great."
Deep discussion: Ashley explains how she's so ambitious and driven, just in case "something happens." Her mother raised the kids because Ashley's father, who has addiction issues, wasn't around. Brad sees himself and his story in her, because he also grew up with an absentee dad. "I'm not a guy that just spews out emotions," he says before launching into the sad story about his childhood. His dad would call to say he was going to pick up his boys and take them out, and then instead of showing up, he'd disappear for several years. Unfortunately, Brad's dad scared him so much it makes him push people away — and he just realized this three years ago at the end of Season 11. Ashley wonders if he came back on the show to redeem himself; does he feel obligated to choose someone? He assures her that he does not need redemption.
Brad's assessment: Ashley makes it easy for him to open up. Three years ago he wouldn't have answered her questions, but she broke his walls down. "Very first date and I feel like I'm on my way to finding my wife."
